Breaking new ground:
a waste gas to power case study
Jinan Iron and Steel

Located in Shangdong, China, the project recovers blast furnace and coke oven gas that was previously vented into the atmosphere.

The recovered waste gas is then used to power a newly installed 544MW combined cycle power plant.
Camco helped the client to harness the CDM in order to overcome technical barriers, in addition to securing carbon financing to increase the IRR to above the investment hurdle rate. The project is a world first and a flagship for the iron and steel sector in China.

14,629,181 tonnes of C02e emission reductions to 2012
