Verified emission reductions
|
VERs Verified emission reductions (VERs) are carbon credits developed by carbon offset providers which either cannot or have not been certified under either of the two project-based “flexible mechanisms” of the Kyoto Protocol. Our voluntary emission reduction projects are scrutinised by the same professionals as the CDM and JI projects we undertake, or by independent academic institutions that oversee emission reduction methodologies not covered by the UN process. This is to ensure that our projects obtain a validation report similar in quality to that produced for the UN certified projects. The VER projects Camco undertakes cover land use and land use change, credits from CDM and JI projects that commenced operation before they were registered with the UN, or from projects in countries where for various reasons, the project cannot be undertaken through the CDM or JI system.
