We have recently undertaken a Carbon Management Scoping Study for the BBC, co-funded by the Carbon Trust. The main purpose of the commission was to support the implementation of the BBC’s Environment Strategy including a 20% reduction target in carbon intensity per staff member to be achieved over the five year period to 2012/13.
The scope of the work included:
- Data gathering via consultation with key departments to produce a carbon baseline
- A desktop assessment and ‘gap analysis’ of energy/carbon savings projects identified to-date
- A financial assessment of the potential ‘value-at-stake’ and potential return on investment from the implementation of a programme of energy savings projects across the UK estate
The results of the work were presented to the BBC’s Environment Committee, chaired by the Chief Operating Officer.
