Our voluntary projects are independently verified and developed in accordance with the most stringent of international standards.
There are numerous project types that can deliver significant environmental benefits, but cannot qualify to produce compliance-grade emission credits for a variety of reasons. The costs to qualify the projects may be too onerous, the project may be in a location that does not qualify to host compliance-grade projects, or the technology may not be one that is allowed under the regulations. The voluntary markets can help project developers overcome these barriers by providing additional revenue streams through the sale of voluntary emissions reduction (VER) credits.
Camco’s projects in the voluntary market are developed with the same rigor as the projects we develop for the compliance markets. As a long-time developer of projects in the voluntary markets, we have a significant portfolio of carbon under management, each adhering to one of the leading voluntary project standards: Gold Standard (GS), Voluntary Carbon Standard (VCS) and Plan Vivo Standard (for community forestry projects), which we helped develop.
All of our projects are independently verified to ensure compliance with the following criteria: strong social and environmental benefits, clear demonstration of additionality, and permanence of emission reductions.
